Hi,
I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 3 year Windows Insider MVP here to help.
Are you using Legacy Edge or the new Edge? Likely if you have not downloaded manually last month you are using Legacy Edge.
Sumit It is always good to include your PC Specs, make and model in the question. Ensure all the latest quality updates have been installed.

If you're using old Edge which is original its not getting improvement updates just security. So if something is broke with CBS videos it will most likely stay that way. Either switch to new Edge Chromium by downloading and installing or use a different browser. Microsoft stopped doing any improvements to Edge after the Oct. 1903 Windows 10 release. All of their development resources are focused on new Edge now.

I noticed that there are threads about this going back to 2013 but I hoped someone might have come up with a solution by now. When I attempt to play videos on CBS.com in edge (2020 version) the commercial plays but when it should play the shows I get a black screen. CBS blames edge.
Two things I discovered about this situation with CBS All Access and Edge.
1. Turn off Ad Blocker for the CBS site, which you probably already did.
2. Disable Hardware Acceleration in Settings ---> System.
After doing the above, CBS All Access works fine for me.
The hardware acceleration problem has been pointed out in Feedback for Edge BTW, so our friends at MSFT should be aware of it. Apparently this is not a problem with other browsers.

Yeah, so I started using edge, because I like that it opens automatically if I send a link from my phone, and I have a media pc for TV, and I went through and tweaked the setting when I first started it, and turned hardware acceleration off, just because..
Used a lot of streaming sites fine but then cbs would just skip from episode to episode without playing (I pay for no ads)..
Anywho.. I actually had to turn hardware acceleration ON to get it working, oddly enough.

I had been streaming CBS all access just fine on my Windows 10 PC, until I tried to login about Oct 15th, to watch the third season of Star Trek Discovery. Every time I start any video, the screen goes black, but I can still hear the audio. If I quickly hit my power button, this must perform some sort of reset, because it comes back up, and I have to login again. When I do, I can then watch the video that previously went black.
I am a Windows and Linux Sys Admin, and have been troubleshooting for a very long time. When things fail, you look for what has changed. Was there some change to Windows about that time? (Yes, I know, the never ending parade of patch on patch Tuesday). Was there some change to the cbs.com web site?
If CBS streaming is listening. This is taking the fun out of watching the site.
Thanks

same problem on Win10 pc (on which I did successfully view a CBS.com video about a year ago) using latest clean install of Edge, clean and never used before Firefox, and Chrome. All 3 got the screen with the 3304 error, but not all the time. Sometimes commercials will play and the time bar will appear on the black screen, and if the mouse cursor is hovered on the time bar, it shows a thumbnail image from the vid. Looks ready to go, but it freezes there indefinitely (hours). Another interesting aspect regarding the state of the CBS website is that the error 3304 screen contains a FAQ link which jumps to a dead page. And clicking a tech support email link on another page puts you on a form that is also broken, and will not submit. My only theory to explain a website in this level of disarray is that perhaps there is a personnel or outsourcing problem that has resulted in some sabotage. BTW, just dug out an old Win7 pc (everything recently updated) and CBS.com does the same thing except error 1106 instead of 3304

There are CBS Local, News, Sports Apps for PC and Moble devices. I installed them launched them but it could not locate my location so it doesn't work. Why when you search for Microsoft CBS All Access App it is only for XBOX???

Ditto with me. Renewed CAA to watch latest season of Discovery and nada. Crazy that a stock Windows 10 PC purchased this Christmas cannot stream CBS. What are these folks thinking?! The support has been non-existent from both CBS and Microsoft.

What I think is going on with the CBS website is they ended the capability to watch recent show episodes, and someone there thought it would be a good idea to let stand phrasing like "watch recent episodes for free" without any nearby disclaimer text like 'when you are an "All Access subscriber" '. What is really annoying is that the site plays a commercial and displays arcane error messages instead of simply fessing up that episode streaming is no longer free.
